Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed his deep appreciation to French President Emmanuel Macron for his unwavering support and shared vision in the pursuit of peace.

Taking to social media, President Zelenskyy underscored the significance of a peace that is not merely symbolic but tangible and enduring. He firmly rejected the notion that peace should come at the cost of Ukraine’s capitulation or collapse, instead advocating for a just, reliable, and lasting resolution. According to Zelenskyy, such peace can only be secured through strong and long-term security guarantees—not just for Ukraine, but for Europe and the wider international community.

“We deeply appreciate the leadership and efforts of all those supporting Ukraine and strengthening Europe’s defence capabilities,” he stated, recognising the ongoing contributions of international allies in bolstering the continent’s security.

His remarks come amid continued international discussions regarding security assistance and strategic partnerships aimed at ensuring Ukraine’s sovereignty in the face of ongoing Russian aggression. France, under President Macron’s leadership, has been a steadfast ally of Kyiv, providing military aid and diplomatic backing in the wider European effort to support Ukraine.

Looking ahead, Zelenskyy expressed optimism about further collaborative steps towards achieving a stable and just peace. “Looking forward to working jointly on the steps toward peace in the upcoming days,” he noted, signalling continued engagement with France and other allies in defining Ukraine’s path forward.
