Nuhu Ribadu Responds to Nasir El Rufai’s Remarks: Calls for Respectful Discourse
In a recent statement, Nuhu Ribadu has issued a firm rejoinder to comments made by Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State.
Ribadu’s response comes after El-Rufai’s interview raised questions about their relationship and Ribadu's political ambitions.
Ribadu emphasised that he has never publicly criticised or engaged in any media spat with El-Rufai, despite the latter’s assertions. “I have always approached our relationship with respect,” Ribadu stated, underscoring his commitment to maintaining decorum in political dialogue.
Addressing the claim that he intends to run for the presidency in 2031, Ribadu categorically denied having discussed such plans with anyone. “My focus is on serving my country under President Tinubu’s administration,” he clarified, asserting that he has no ulterior motives beyond national service.
Ribadu’s statement also included a direct appeal to El-Rufai, urging him to focus on his own affairs rather than engaging in unfounded criticisms. “In this time of national importance, it is paramount that we rise above personal grievances,” Ribadu remarked, advocating for a political environment characterised by respect and constructive engagement.
The clarification comes at a time of heightened political tension, where personal attacks can easily overshadow critical national issues. Ribadu’s call for unity and professionalism serves as a timely reminder of the responsibilities that public figures have in shaping a positive discourse.
