Nigerian Presidency Responds to US Court Order on Tinubu Drug Records

Abuja, 13 April 2025 – The Nigerian Presidency has addressed a recent ruling by a Washington DC judge ordering the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to release records allegedly linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement shared on Sunday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, dismissed speculations surrounding the court order, asserting that the documents in question hold no new revelations. “There is nothing new to be revealed. The report by Agent Moss of the FBI and the DEA report have been in the public space for more than 30 years. The reports did not indict the Nigerian leader,” Onanuga said.

The Presidency noted that its legal team is currently reviewing the ruling to determine further steps. The statement comes amid heightened media interest following the US court’s decision last Tuesday, which has reignited discussions about President Tinubu’s past.

Onanuga’s remarks aim to quell speculation, emphasising that the decades-old reports do not implicate the President.
