Peter Obi Visits Bokkos, Condemns Senseless Killings in Plateau State
Jos, Plateau State – 13 April 2025
Peter Obi, former Nigerian presidential candidate, visited Bokkos in Plateau State yesterday to offer condolences and support following the recent brutal killings in the area. Travelling from Abuja to Jos, Obi met with Governor Caleb Mutfwang and spent time with victims, including displaced children and affected communities.
In a heartfelt statement, Obi described the violence as "saddening and utterly unacceptable," stressing that Nigerians should not live in fear or be forced to flee their homes in peacetime. "Every life is precious," he said, extending his deepest sympathies to families who have lost loved ones. "No words can truly capture the pain and devastation that such senseless violence brings."
Obi’s visit highlighted ongoing efforts by the Obidient Movement to support the region. Previously, the group constructed a borehole to provide clean water for an IDP camp and the surrounding community. During his visit, Obi announced a donation of 7.5 million naira to improve facilities for displaced children, ensure continued education, and address the immediate needs of those affected.
Calling for leadership and compassion, Obi reaffirmed his commitment to peace, justice, and healing in Plateau State. "My heart is with the people of Bokkos, the displaced children, women, and entire communities during this difficult time," he said. He also prayed for the souls of the departed and for strength and unity as the communities rebuild.
