Abuja, 9 April 2025 – A high-profile delegation from the Labour Party (LP), headed by Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti, paid a visit to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja on Wednesday. The meeting focused on recent developments within the party, with the delegation formally submitting a Certified True Copy of a Supreme Court judgement addressing the LP’s leadership structure.

Governor Otti, leading the delegation, emphasised that the visit was intended to promote clarity, mutual understanding, and alignment between the Labour Party and INEC regarding the party’s current leadership framework. The submission of the Supreme Court ruling was described as a pivotal step in ensuring that the party’s internal changes are recognised and respected by the electoral body.

The Labour Party team was warmly received by INEC’s Acting Chairman, Mr. Sam Olumekun, alongside other National Commissioners. The discussions between the two sides centred on strengthening collaboration and upholding democratic principles, with both parties expressing a shared commitment to advancing Nigeria’s electoral process.

In his remarks, Mr. Olumekun reiterated INEC’s dedication to maintaining neutrality, transparency, and adherence to the rule of law in fulfilling its constitutional duties.
