Atiku Abubakar Calls for Unity and Compassion in Easter Message
Lagos, 20 April 2025 – Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged Nigerians to embrace unity, compassion, and resilience in a heartfelt Easter message shared this weekend. Addressing the Christian faithful and the nation at large, Atiku emphasised the importance of collective goodwill and collaboration to overcome Nigeria’s challenges.
In his message, Atiku described Easter as a season for “deep introspection, compassion, and reaching out to those in need.” He called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in pursuing unity across ethnic and religious divides, stating, “Our strength as a people lies in our togetherness. A nation united shall always endure and flourish.”
Atiku expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, asserting that despite temporary setbacks, “the collective goodness and resilience of Nigerians will prevail.” He stressed that the nation’s challenges stem not from ethnicity or religion but from a lack of common understanding, urging leaders to resist efforts to deepen divisions.
The former vice president also called for leadership guided by “sacrifice, love, and charity,” emphasising that sincere collaboration is essential to healing divisions and renewing national hope. “We must resist every attempt to deepen fault lines,” he said, advocating for a unified approach to addressing Nigeria’s issues.
Atiku’s message comes at a time when Nigeria continues to grapple with economic hardships, insecurity, and social tensions. His call for unity and compassion resonates with many who see Easter as an opportunity for reflection and renewal.
As Nigerians celebrate the season, Atiku’s words serve as a reminder of the power of collective action and shared purpose in building a stronger, more cohesive nation.
