Air Peace Suspends Flights to Akanu Ibiam International Airport Over Safety Concerns
Enugu, Nigeria – 18 April 2025 – Air Peace, a leading Nigerian airline, has announced the temporary suspension of all flights to Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu due to safety concerns surrounding the airport’s runway. The decision, effective immediately, will remain in place until further notice.
In a statement released today, Air Peace cited ongoing issues with the Enugu runway as the primary reason for the suspension. The airline noted that the runway’s condition has caused significant disruptions to its operations, prompting the decision to prioritise passenger safety. “At Air Peace, we prioritise safety first over convenience,” the statement read. The airline further explained that suspending flights will provide the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) with the opportunity to carry out necessary repairs on the runway over the coming days.
To mitigate the impact on passengers, Air Peace has rerouted all flights originally scheduled to depart from or arrive at Enugu to Asaba Airport. The airline expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the change and thanked passengers for their understanding. “At Air Peace, your safety is our priority,” the statement concluded.
