Dangote Refinery Announces N65 Reduction in Petrol Price Ahead of Ramadan

LAGOS, Nigeria – Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a significant reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, by N65 per litre. The new price of N825 per litre, down from N890, takes effect from 27th February 2025.

The decision comes as part of Dangote Refinery’s ongoing efforts to provide economic relief to Nigerians, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming Ramadan season. The reduction also aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic recovery policy, aimed at easing financial burdens on citizens.

This marks the second price cut in February 2025, following a previous reduction of N60 earlier in the month. In December 2024, during the yuletide period, Dangote Refinery also slashed petrol prices by N70.50, reducing the cost from N970 to N899.50 per litre. These successive reductions have played a crucial role in stabilising fuel costs, preventing scarcity, and mitigating inflationary pressures on the economy.

As part of its distribution strategy, the high-quality Dangote petrol will be available at varying prices across different regions. At MRS Holdings stations, the retail prices will be as follows:

N860 per litre in Lagos

N870 per litre in the South-West

N880 per litre in the North

N890 per litre in the South-South and South-East

Similarly, at Ardova Petroleum (AP) and Heyden stations, petrol will retail at:

N865 per litre in Lagos

N875 per litre in the South-West

N885 per litre in the North

N895 per litre in the South-South and South-East

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has assured the public of a steady supply of petroleum products, with sufficient reserves to meet local demand and surplus available for export. The company has called on fuel marketers to cooperate in ensuring that Nigerians fully benefit from these price reductions.

This initiative aligns with the federal government’s broader goal of achieving self-sufficiency in refined petroleum products and positioning Nigeria as a major player in the global oil export market. With these measures, Dangote Refinery continues to play a pivotal role in Nigeria’s economic recovery and energy security.
