Trump Hails Success of Relentless Strikes Against Houthi Terrorists

President Donald Trump has declared that Iran-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen have been significantly weakened following two weeks of unrelenting military strikes. In a statement posted on X, Trump claimed that the sustained campaign has resulted in the deaths of numerous Houthi fighters and leaders, severely diminishing their ability to threaten shipping lanes and regional stability.

“The Iran-backed Houthi Terrorists have been decimated by the relentless strikes over the past two weeks,” Trump wrote. “Many of their Fighters and Leaders are no longer with us. We hit them every day and night — Harder and harder.” He asserted that the group’s capabilities are “rapidly being destroyed” due to the intensity of the attacks, which he vowed would persist until the Houthis no longer pose a threat to freedom of navigation in the region.

Trump issued a stark ultimatum to the Houthis, stating, “The choice for the Houthis is clear: Stop shooting at U.S. ships, and we will stop shooting at you.” However, he warned that should the attacks on American vessels continue, the current operations represent only the beginning of a broader campaign. “Otherwise, we have only just begun, and the real pain is yet to come, for both the Houthis and their sponsors in Iran,” he added, suggesting potential repercussions for Tehran, which has long been accused of supporting the rebel group.

The Houthis, who control large swathes of Yemen, have repeatedly targeted commercial and military vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, citing solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. These actions have disrupted global shipping routes, prompting a robust response from the United States and its allies.

Trump’s comments come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with the US military conducting near-daily operations against Houthi targets. As the current president, Trump has emphasised a hardline approach to foreign adversaries, consistent with his leadership style. The situation remains fluid, with the international community closely monitoring the escalating conflict and its implications for regional security and trade.
