Muslims across Nigeria today join millions worldwide in celebrating Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, the sacred month of fasting, prayer, and reflection. In a heartfelt message to the nation’s Muslim faithful, Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and prominent Nigerian leader, extended warm greetings, urging citizens to harness the lessons of the season to foster hope and progress amid challenging times.
“Eid Mubarak to all Muslim faithful in Nigeria,” Obi declared. “My dear Muslim brothers and sisters, I rejoice with you today as you mark the completion of the holy month of Ramadan. This period of fasting, prayer, and spiritual renewal has not only strengthened your faith but also reminded us all of the enduring values of sacrifice, discipline, and love for one another.”
As Nigeria grapples with economic hardship, insecurity, and uncertainty, Obi’s message underscored the significance of Eid-el-Fitr as a moment for renewal. “As you celebrate this Eid-el-Fitr, I encourage you to carry forward the lessons of Ramadan—compassion, humility, and service to humanity,” he said. “Let us seize this moment to renew our collective commitment to peace, unity, and the progress of our dear nation, Nigeria.”
Obi, known for his advocacy for good governance and equity, emphasised the need for solidarity in addressing the nation’s challenges. “At this critical time in our history, when many of our people face economic hardship, insecurity, and uncertainty, we must embrace the true essence of Eid—the spirit of giving, kindness, and solidarity,” he stated. He called on Nigerians to extend a helping hand to the less privileged and work together towards building a “just, equitable, and prosperous Nigeria.”
